Backpacking Trip Recap

Our November 7-9 Backpacking Trip to Montgomery Bell State Park ended up being a beautiful hike at Natchez Trace State Park. On our drive to the park, we received word that Montgomery Bell was hit by a large storm and had taken significant damage. The chose to close the Back Country shelters and hiking trails until they could assess the damage. We persuaded them to allow us to stay Friday night to avoid turning around and driving another 3 hours. We slept at their lake front swimming shelter. In the morning, we contacted Natchez Trace State Park. Their Back Country shelter was available so we headed there. Our Backpacking was cut from 9 miles down to 5.9 but we were able to complete some other requirements and William taught the others a new card game. The Scouts showed adaptability when the plans changed.

Troop Service Project 11/22 9 AM

We will be rebuilding a fence for Faith Presbyterian Church around the air conditioning unit in the preschool playground. Scouts are encouraged to bring electric screwdrivers but will need to bring water bottles and work gloves and need to dress for the weather. Rain is in the forecast but we will update you if plans change.

January Ski Trip

We plan to go on a ski trip January 9-11 (with January 23-25 as backup dates). For those that went last January, the plan is the same. For the rest, we will meet at Faith at 4 pm and drive to a church in St. Louis. On Saturday, we will head to Hidden Valley Ski Resort. Scouts can choose to either ski or snowboard (learning is best on skis according to the staff). Lessons will be included in the package. After the slopes, we will head out for pizza and return to the church. The cost is $100 with the Troop Committee picking up the excess. Because the trip is early in January, we will need the payment by the Court of Honor 12/16.

In-person sales are completed, but online purchases can still be made through Dec 2nd. If you are interested in continuing to sell, please let Mrs. Trott know.
