Greenery Fundraiser – Pick-Up Next Week

The greenery will be delivered sometime next week, so please watch your email for a pick-up time. We could use some volunteers to help sort the greenery order and distribute orders. The sorting will likely be during the day and the distribution in the evening, but we don’t have exact times. Please let Kim Ridenhour know if you are willing to help with either of these.

We have to order greenery in full cases, so we still have some items to sell:

·  Table Top Tree (5) - $40 each

If you sell or purchase these items, you will earn 60% of the profit in Scout Bucks. Let’s get these items sold before the greenery arrives. Please contact Marjorie Reynolds (marjreynolds@gmail.com) if you sell or want to purchase any of these (first come first served).

Cub Scout Pack 48 Recruiting – November 14

Please see the attached flyer and pass it along if you know any boys who would be interested in joining Cub Scouts.

Christmas Food Baskets

We won’t be doing our traditional Christmas food basket project this year due to safety concerns, but will be making a monetary donation. Here is the website to sign up if your family would like to volunteer for the Mid-South Food Bank:  https://beaneighbor.vomo.org/org/mid-south-food-bank. Please note that there are some age restrictions and you must arrive on time. Scouts who volunteer can earn service hours – wear your Scout uniform.

Scouts BSA Registration Fees Past Due

The Scouts BSA Registration fees for 2021 are past due, so please pay these as soon as possible if you haven’t already. The fee for Scouts is $78 and includes subscription to Boys Life magazine. The fee for registered adults is $42. You may pay with Scout Bucks or with PayPal or Plastiq on the troop website. If you would like to pay by check, please mail your check to Mr. Frederick Lee, 1210 Evergreen Ridge West, Collierville, TN 38017. If you do not wish to renew your registration for 2021, please let our Committee Chair Kim Ridenhour know. Please note that all adults must be current with Youth Protection Training to register for 2021.

Adult Needed to Plan Summer 2021 Washington DC Trip

Our Summer Adventure trip for 2021 will be to Washington DC on July 10-17. We need an adult volunteer to lead the planning for this trip, preferably one who can go on the trip. We’ve taken this trip a few times in the past years about every five years, so there are past itineraries to help with the planning. The troop usually stays in a church hostel a few blocks away from the National Mall. Activities and sites visited have included Smithsonian Institute Museums, Holocaust Memorial Museum, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Veterans War Memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, White House, US Capitol, Supreme Court Building, Library of Congress, National Archives, Washington National Cathedral, Washington Monument, Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Canine Training Program, US Navy Band concert, US Navy Memorial, Washington Nationals Baseball game, and meetings with our Congressmen. If you are interested in leading the planning for this trip, please contact Kim Ridenhour.

December 8 – Virtual Awards Court of Honor – 7:30 PM

Parents – please plan to attend with your Scout the WebEx on Tuesday, December 8 at 7:30 PM for our Awards Court of Honor in place of our regular Tuesday night troop meeting. The meeting will be no longer than 1 hour.

Adult Volunteers Needed

·  We need an adult volunteer to manage our troop’s Facebook site, posting articles each week. Material for posting will be provided. If you are interested in this role, please contact Kim Ridenhour.  We also are looking for someone to replace Kim as Committee Chair and Bo as Outdoor Activities Coordinator. We also need an assistant Life to Eagle mentor. Let Kim or John Campbell know if you are interested in any of these roles.

·  The next Troop Committee meeting will be on December 7 at 7 PM on WebEx. All parents are welcome to attend Troop Committee meetings. If you are not a Committee member, but would like to attend the Committee meeting, please let Kim Ridenhour know and she will send you the WebEx invitation.

All Troop 48 in-person activities are cancelled until the church informs us that we can return.
