New Policies due to COVID-19
We are changing some policies for Troop activities due to the increase in COVID cases in our area, effective immediately:
· Masks are required to be worn indoors at all times, when riding in vehicles with others, and outdoors only if social distancing of 3 feet is not maintained
· Tents will not be shared on campouts, except for family members
· Troop meetings will be held outside, weather permitting
· If it is too hot or raining, the Troop meeting will be held in Faith Hall, so social distancing can be maintained
· If we meet in Faith Hall, set up will be moving the chairs against the side walls no more than 4 chairs high (chairs must be picked up and not dragged), and clean-up will be sweeping the floor
· Anyone with symptoms or feeling ill should not attend Troop meetings and campouts
· The September 14 Awards Court of Honor will be held indoors, but we will have no refreshments
Just a reminder – Scouts need to bring their BSA Handbook to all Troop meetings
Spotlight on Cassius Cash
We wanted to share these two articles that include our own Committee Chair John Campbell. The articles are about Cassius Cash, the man in charge of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which is the most-visited national park in the country. The story of Superintendent Cassius Cash is an example for all of us. Throughout his 30-year career of breaking color barriers as the first African-American National Park Leader at the Smokies, Cash continues to utilize skills learned as a Boy Scout to overcome the challenges of being a black man in America. His journey began when he met Scoutmaster Henry Peabody in the Chickasaw Council, Boy Scouts of America serving Memphis, Tennessee, and the surrounding areas.
