Annual Pancake Breakfast: 2022
On Saturday, November 12, Troop 48 held its annual pancake breakfast. The
breakfast is a significant fundraising event that helps to minimize costs of summer
camp, summer adventure trips, and outings of that nature. With at least one scout
having sold each of his tickets beforehand, the event was sure to be a success. It was
enjoyed by all who attended, and guests had a rewarding experience. Hopefully, this will
yield a returning crowd for next year.
The work began early- at around 5:00 A.M., volunteers scrambling to prepare
eggs, bacon, and of course, pancakes that would be served later that morning. When
the remaining scouts and adults arrived later, they split into groups that would fulfill
needed tasks throughout the breakfast, from serving food to bussing tables. The guests
arrived shortly after, and the kitchen quickly piled up with dishes as more entered the
makeshift dining room. With the scouts switching stations every few minutes, the room
was bustling with activity. The enormous supply of food proved to be sufficient, and the
entire event went fairly smoothly. As the crowd dwindled, the scouts began to mop the
room and reset it for the church service that would take place the next day. Overall, this
event went as well as possible, and the scouts handled the breakfast with ease.
