January Campout Change and Fees Due January 3rd

In the interest of having a backpacking trip in January that will be fun for everyone, we have decided, with the PLC's endorsement, to change our destination.  We will be heading back to the Little Rock area to hike a section of the Ouachita National Recreation Trail (ORT).  We will begin near Pinnacle Mountain and hike West around Lake Maumelle.  This is considered to be the final section of the ORT, a 223 mile long trail which stretches from Oklahoma to Little Rock. We will be departing on Saturday January 14th and returning in the afternoon on Monday the 16th.  For more details please check out: http://www.backpacker.com/trips/oklahoma/oklahoma-arkansas-s-ouachita-trail/

The campout fee for the January backpacking trip is $25 and is due on Tuesday, January 3rd, our first Troop meeting back after the holidays.

Reminder for Scouts Not Yet Second Class Rank

Officer Landers from the Collierville Police Department presented a program on November 22nd for the Second Class Requirement #7c: Participate in a school, community, or troop program on the dangers of using drugs, alcohol, and tobacco and other practices that could be harmful to your health.

The Scout’s action item is:

"Discuss your participation in the program with your family, and explain the dangers of substance addictions. Report to your Scoutmaster or other adult leader in your troop about which parts of the Scout Oath and Scout Law relate to what you learned."

Scouts - have you discussed your participation in the Drug and Alcohol Awareness Program with your family?

Parents - Please encourage your son to have this discussion and to speak to one of the assistant Scoutmasters on January 3rd to finish and get sign-off on this requirement.
