Merit Badge College Opportunity – Immediate action needed
International Paper (IP) and the Chickasaw Council, Boy Scouts of America are partnering to offer a Merit Badge College for Boy Scouts registered in the Chickasaw Council. It will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2018 in Tower III (6420 Poplar Avenue). The college will run from 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. IP professionals will teach all of the merit badges. As these classes will take place over most of the day, only one merit badge registration per Scout will be accepted. Merit badges to be offered will be:
Scouts interested in taking a merit badge should call Mr. Brent Snyder at 409-7637 to discuss their interest. He will then make the registration. There are only 8 Scouts allowed per class so call him immediately if you are interested. We are being given advance notice but a Council-wide announcement will be made on Monday. The cost is $10.00 per Scout and lunch will be provided. You may pay Mr. Fred Lee, the troop treasurer on Tuesday.
Backpacking Trip Reminders:
Greenery Sale and Popcorn Sale – Due this Tuesday October 23
Please turn in greenery orders and money to Mrs. Marjorie Reynolds this Tuesday. Please turn in popcorn orders and money to Mrs. Yvonne Gamblin this Tuesday. If you will not be at the Troop meeting, please contact Mrs. Reynolds or Mrs. Gamblin to let her know your order, because they will be placing the orders with the vendors very soon after Tuesday. Please keep checks separate for greenery and popcorn.
Attached are electronic copies of the order forms if you have misplaced yours. Remember that Holiday Gift Orders each need their own order form, you can get extra forms from Mrs. Marjorie Reynolds. Be sure to make your prize selection on the popcorn order form. You must be registered on the trails-end website to receive gift card prizes.
CORRECTION – for the Popcorn sale, everyone who has a popcorn order needs to register on the Trails End website, so please do this prior to Tuesday if you have a popcorn order. Attached are the instructions on how to register on the website.
Congratulations to our Newest Eagle Scout
Congratulations to Colin Hube who has earned the rank of Eagle Scout this month. Colin is Troop 48’s 76th Eagle Scout. Congratulations Colin! The Eagle Court of Honor for Jonas Earl and Colin Hube will be on Sunday, November 4 at 1:30 PM at the church.
WANTED! WEBELOS SCOUTS!
It's approaching Webelos Cub Scout recruitment time. At this time of year, Webelos in the fifth grade are looking for Boy Scout troops to cross over into. Scoutmaster Issing is soliciting Cub Scout leader contact information so that he can issue invitations to visit a troop meeting and attend our November 9-11 recruitment weekend campout. If you know of boys in Cub Scout packs and can get the name of the Cubmaster of Webelos den leader, please let Scoutmaster Issing know.
New Cub Scout Pack
Faith Presbyterian Church has started a new Cub Scout Pack for children ages 5-10, so if you know anyone who would be interested, please contact Mr. John Campbell (johnccampbellsr@gmail.com) 569-1770. Cub Scout Pack 48 is meeting on Wednesday nights.
CPR/AED American Red Cross Training Opportunity
There will be training sessions on Saturdays, October 20, 27 and November 3 to learn CPR/AED techniques to save someone’s life when having a cardiac event. This training is available to Scouts and adults, and the fee is $61. If you are interested, please see the attached flyer for more information and how to register.
