December Awards Court of Honor and Christmas Potluck Date Change
Our December Awards Court of Honor and Christmas Party was listed on our calendar for Tuesday, December 11th at 6:00 PM. We found that several had a conflict that night, so we are changing the date to Tuesday, December 4th at 6:00 PM. Please note on your calendars. On December 11th, we will have a regular Troop meeting. The Christmas food basket service project will remain on December 18th.
Free Pocket Tool/Knife
Mr. Ragland received a donation of forty small pocket tools (knife + other tools) for distribution to the Scouts who have earned their Totin' Chip award. (See attached photo.) For those who still have to earn the Totin' Chip, one will be presented upon completion of it, with parents' permission. Contact the Scoutmaster before the troop meeting if you do not want your son to receive one: Brian_Issing@hotmail.com
Navigation Activity for First Class
Mr. Hormberg would like to schedule a 1st Class navigation activity for a day over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. This is for all of the Scouts in the Platinum Sharks patrol and any others under 1st Class who may need requirements 4a and 4b. Please participate in this opportunity if possible, as we only offer this twice a year. Please let Mr. Hormberg know at bo.hormberg@gmail.com your Scout’s availability for some or all of the following days: Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. If not enough are available, he will seek a weekday during the Christmas break. It will take place at W.C. Johnson Park in Collierville.
These two requirements are:
4a. Using a map and compass, complete an orienteering course that covers at least one mile and requires measuring the height and/or width of designated items (tree, tower, canyon, ditch, etc.).
4b. Demonstrate how to use a handheld GPS unit, GPS app on a smartphone, or other electronic navigation system. Use GPS to find your current location, a destination of your choice, and the route you will take to get there. Follow that route to arrive at your destination.
Updated Troop Roster File Attached
Attached is the latest Troop Roster file with everyone’s contact information. Please save this file, as it is not posted on our troop website. It is also a good idea to print out a copy, in case the troop is mobilized to help with an emergency when the power is out.

Attached is the Advancement report. If your information is not up to date, please see Mrs. Becky Vietzke with your BSA Handbook.
