Eagle Scout Service Project Reminder – Saturday, May 27, 11:30 AM
Judd Fontanilla would like Scouts to help him with his Eagle service project on Saturday, May 27th at 11:30 am at the church. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. His service project is building three picnic tables for a Bartlett city park.
West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery Flag Placement – Saturday, May 27, 9:00 AM
We will be joining Scouts from around the area to place American flags in front of each headstone. Please arrive 15 minutes early to locate the Troop before the ceremony. Scouts should be in full uniform. If it hasn’t rained recently, a screwdriver may be needed to make pilot holes. This event usually takes only an hour or two depending on the participation. Families are encouraged to stay and help. Don’t forget to record your service hours in the log in the back of your handbook.
The West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery is holding two other events that Scouts and their families can attend. These won’t be Troop activities. There is a Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 29th at 11 AM, and the Flags will be picked up Saturday, June 3rd starting at 9 AM. Flag pickup would also count for service hours.
Summer Schedule and Uniforms
There will be no regular troop meetings on June 20, 27 and July 4, 11, 18 and 25 for the summer break. The only exception to this is that there will be a Swim Fun Night (and swim checks if needed) on July 25 at Germantown Athletic Club. Regular weekly troop meetings will resume on August 1. Also, beginning with the May 30 troop meeting, the Troop will wear Class B activity uniforms for the summer at Troop meetings until Labor Day (Troop t-shirt instead of Uniform shirt, no neckerchief, but still have BSA socks, belt, shorts/pants and cap). Class A field uniforms are required when traveling on all trips, even in the summer.
