Church Service Project – Tomorrow - Saturday, April 28

We need all Scouts to attend this service project, so please plan to be at the church from 9 am to 2 pm to help paint the wrought-iron fencing, lunch will be provided.  Wear old clothes for painting – the paint will not be able to be washed out. If you cannot attend, please let your patrol leader know. Thanks to John Campbell, Ross Earl and Kelley Lee for leading this project.

God and Country Program

Attached is a flyer with the dates for the God and Country program that will begin on July 29 at Faith Presbyterian Church. Please review the dates and consider enrolling in this program that is an important part of Scouting. If you have any questions, please contact John Campbell.

Skymont Merit Badge Classes and Fees – Fees due by next Tuesday May 1

Attached is a list of all of the merit badge classes each Scout is enrolled in for Skymont summer camp. Please be sure to work on any prerequisites needed prior to camp, and that you have the merit badge pamphlets. The Troop has a library of merit badge pamphlets that Scouts can borrow, or they may be purchased from the Scout Shop or online (scoutshop.org). Please pay all merit badge class fees by next Tuesday, May 1, if you haven’t paid already.

Barbecue Fundraiser – July 4th

Attached is an order form for our Troop’s July 4th BBQ fundraiser. Please sell as much as possible, and please complete a separate order form for each order. The orders are due by June 26 to Mr. Richard Ralph, but please turn in orders as you get them so he can plan appropriately. Our last Troop meeting prior to the summer break is June 5, so you can also email orders to Mr. Ralph. No Scout Bucks are awarded for this fundraiser, but it is an important one that helps fund our campouts, Summer Adventure, Skymont summer camp and camping equipment.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

The Chickasaw Council is excited to announce that an National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) course will be offered in Camp Cherokee, at Kia Kima, from July 1-6, 2018. NYLT is the premier youth leadership training for Scouts and Venturers, 13-years-old or older. NYLT integrates the best of modern leadership theory with the traditional strengths of Scouting. Through activities, presentations, challenges, and discussions, NYLT participants will enjoy an engaging program and will come back to their unit prepared to lead. It’s exciting and fun! It’s awesome and incredible! It’s co-ed…it’s NYLT!

If interested, the Scout should contact the Scoutmaster before applying. Register here, or contact Melissa Burnett, Course Director, at 2018NYLT558@gmail.com.

Troop 48’s own Michael Rook will be on NYLT staff this year. Past attendees have demonstrated their leadership in Troop 48 – Michael Rook, Elliot Ragland, Colin Hube, and Hayden Smith.
