Congratulations to our Star Volunteer – Mr. Richard Ralph
Last night at the Eastern District Awards Reception, Mr. Richard Ralph was honored as this year’s Star Volunteer for Troop 48. Thank you Mr. Ralph for all that you do for our Troop! Troop 48 was also recognized for achieving Gold Unit status under the Journey To Excellence program, and recognized as one of three Troops or Packs in the district having over 90% of our leaders trained. Thanks to all of our leaders, Scouts and parents that make our Troop great!
The Blessings of Liberty Program – You are Invited – Tomorrow at 2:00
Faith Presbyterian Church is having a program called “The Blessings of Liberty” on Saturday, June 3 at 2:00 pm. All Scouts and their families are invited to attend the program, and we would encourage everyone to attend – it would be great to show the church that our Troop supports its programs. Scouts should wear Class A uniforms. I hear that there will be fire trucks and free ice cream!
Skymont Drivers Needed
We need additional drivers to pick up Scouts from Skymont on Saturday morning June 17 to bring them back home. Any men that can do this could stay overnight at Skymont on Friday, June 16 at no charge. Drivers are reimbursed for gas costs. If you can volunteer to do this, please let Mr. Matt Jordan know (MattJ@jmhheat.com) as soon as possible.
Summer Adventure $45 Payment due this Tuesday June 6
The final payment for the July Summer Adventure of $45 is due on Tuesday, June 6. If you cannot be there on June 6 and you have not paid this deposit, please make arrangements to pay with our treasurer, Mr. Fred Lee, since this will be our last Troop meeting before our break. Payments can be made to Scout Bucks on our Troop website using PayPal or Plastiq, but you would still need to contact Mr. Lee to let him know to use the Scout Bucks for the Summer Adventure payment.
BBQ Fundraiser – June 6 is last Troop meeting before the order deadline
Attached is the order form and information for our BBQ sale fundraiser, led by Mr. Richard Ralph. Please start taking orders now for BBQ ribs and pork roasts, to be picked up on Sunday, July 2nd from 12:00 – 2:00. All orders are due by June 27th, but please email or text Mr. Ralph your orders as you get them, so he can plan appropriately for the grill size. It will also be easier to turn in orders to him by June 6thbefore we have our summer break. Funds raised from this sale will help subsidize the Troop’s activities, so please sell as much as you can. You do not want to miss out on this great BBQ from Mr. Ralph’s award-winning Serial Grillers BBQ team!
Attention – All Those who Drive Scouts
We would like to encourage everyone who drives Scouts to take a free online driving safety course by The Hartford Driving Improvement Program on my.scouting.org, it only takes about 35 minutes. Everyone could use a refresher how to drive defensively, recognize hazards and prevent collisions (especially living in Memphis!). The safety of our Scouts is very important. Summer Break
Just a reminder that there will be no Troop meetings June 13 through July 11. Troop meetings will resume on July 18.
