Troop 48 Update - 9/26/15‏

Posted on Tue, Sep 29, 2015

Backpacking – What to Pack – Tuesday, 9/29, PARENTS OF NEW SCOUTS, PLEASE ATTEND

The next trip is a Backpacking trek in Land between the Lakes in Kentucky. It will take place from October 16-18 and money is due on Tuesday. This trip is suitable for first-timers. Backpacking demands a different set of gear so a 'what to pack' presentation will be conducted for the Python and Storm Dragons patrols. This will take place on Tuesday, September 29th at 7:05 p.m. in the Library (across the hall from the Scout room). Parents are encouraged to attend. For any Scout who has not backpacked with Troop 48 this presentation is required in order to attend a backpacking trip. Topics to be included are:

• The selection of gear that is lightweight.

• The ability to borrow equipment like backpacks and water bottles.

• How to pack for the weather.

Note ... this is a change from what was communicated at the last troop meeting.

October Campout Fee due Tuesday 9/29

Because of Fall Break, the $25 campout fees for the October 16-18 backpacking campout are due a week earlier than usual on Tuesday 9/29. Please make every effort to sign up by the due date. If you would like to sign up after the due date, there is a process to be followed that can be found on our Troop 48 website at this link: http://www.troop48.org/f/docs/RulesandProcedures.html

Greenery Sale & Popcorn Sale

Our greenery and popcorn sales are underway – please sell as much as you can!  If you haven’t received your greenery order form, please contact Mrs. Gina Eddleman. The contact for the popcorn sale is Mr. Ross Earl. For our top greenery and popcorn sellers, the Rice family has graciously donated a prize of 4 Grizzlies tickets for each top seller! Winners will have a choice of four dates for the tickets – Nov 27 or 29th, or January 8th or 10th. There are also cash prizes from the Troop for top sellers for greenery and prizes from the Council for popcorn sales, so get selling and go for it! All Scouts earn 60% of the profits in ScoutBucks, so the more you sell, the less you pay in campout fees next year.

Here are the due dates for the Greenery sale:

Oct 27 – Orders and money are due

Nov 17 (approximate) – Greenery products delivered

Here are the due dates for the Popcorn sale:

Everyone received 2 Holiday Gift Order Forms in their greenery packet. If you will not be using these, please return them to Mrs. Gina Eddleman. Remember that for each Holiday gift order on the back of the envelope that will be shipped directly, you will need to complete a Holiday Gift Order Form.

If you haven’t received your Popcorn Take Order form, please see Mr. Ross Earl, or you can print out a form online at http://www.chickasaw.org/assets/1401/2015_chickasawpopcornorderform.pdf

You can also sell popcorn Online to your family and friends who don’t live in the area. See this website for instructions for the online sale  http://www.chickasaw.org/onlinesales
