Scouts BSA Registration Fees due by November 10

The Scouts BSA Registration fees for 2021 are due by November 10. The fee for Scouts is $78 and includes subscription to Boys Life magazine. The fee for registered adults is $42. You may pay with Scout Bucks or with PayPal or Plastiq on the troop website. If you would like to pay by check, please mail your check no later than November 5 to Mr. Frederick Lee, 1210 Evergreen Ridge West, Collierville, TN 38017. If you do not wish to renew your registration for 2021, please let our Committee Chair Kim Ridenhour know. Please note that all adults must be current with Youth Protection Training to register for 2021.

Greenery Fundraiser – Unsold Items

We have to order greenery in full cases, so we still have some items to sell:

· 25” Classic Wreath (1) - $35 each

· Center Piece (3) - $40 each

· Table Top Tree (5) - $40 each

If you sell or purchase these items, you will earn 60% of the profit in Scout Bucks. Let’s get these items sold before the greenery arrives in mid-November. Please contact Marjorie Reynolds (marjreynolds@gmail.com) if you sell or want to purchase any of these (first come first served).

Popcorn Fundraiser Results

Troop 48 sold $1,671 of popcorn this year, benefiting the national Scouts BSA program, Troop 48, and Scouts who sold earned 60% of the profit in Scout Bucks.

Congratulations to our top sellers: Trey Bell sold $778 and Kyle Jones sold $483 – way to go!

Upcoming Outdoor Troop Meetings

The church has given us permission to meet outside their building and have access to the designated restrooms.  The Patrol Leaders' Council will be planning some outside troop meetings. More details to come!

Gifts in Memory of Mr. Provine

Troop 48 has received $900 of donations in memory of Mr. Provine. In addition to those listed previously, we have received donations from Kara and Justin Owen, and Gary, Robin and Hayden Smith.

Mr. Brian Kelley from Madison, Indiana sent this note with his donation:

Ed Provine was one of the finest engineers I've ever known. The company we worked for, Rotary Lift, was and is the leading manufacturer of Automotive Lifts to this day because of people like Ed. His attention to detail and engineering knowledge allowed us to lead the lift industry. On a personal note, I spend a lot of time with Ed digging and exploring caves in Southern Indiana. He was fearless as we crawled into places you probably shouldn't go. I looked at Ed for guidance in my job and my personal life as he was a perfect example of a man. He loved all the things I loved and had a vast understanding of many different topics; cars, bottles, antiques, hiking, survival, advertisements, etc. He also liked a good meal and we shared many. I will never forget Ed and hope I can be 50% the man he was.

Adult Volunteers Needed

· We need an adult volunteer to manage our troop’s Facebook site, posting articles each week. Material for posting will be provided. If you are interested in this role, please contact Kim Ridenhour.  We also are looking for someone to replace Kim as Committee Chair and Bo as Outdoor Activities Coordinator. Let Kim or John Campbell know if you are interested in any of these roles.

· The next Troop Committee meeting will be on November 2 at 7 PM on WebEx. All parents are welcome to attend Troop Committee meetings. If you are not a Committee member, but would like to attend the Committee meeting, please let Kim Ridenhour know and she will send you the WebEx invitation.

All Troop 48 in-person activities are cancelled until the church informs us that we can return.
